A Valley Built Around One Flower
Grown in Bulgaria's Rose Valley, between the Balkan and Sredna Gora mountains, Damask Rose has been distilled in the region for centuries. The valley's particular combination of soil, altitude and climate is what gave Bulgarian rose oil its international reputation, and its place as a benchmark for the entire industry.
Because rose oil commands such a high price, it is also one of the most frequently diluted and adulterated oils on the market. ISO 9842 sets out the recognised composition for genuine Rosa damascena oil, including limits on compounds such as methyl eugenol, and we benchmark every batch against it before it reaches a client.
