German Chamomile oil is easy to recognise before it is even smelled. Its deep blue colour comes from chamazulene, a compound formed during distillation rather than present in the living plant, making it one of the most visually distinctive essential oils used in cosmetics.
Not every batch delivers the same chamazulene content, and some contain bisabolol in oxide forms rather than the free form valued in skincare. We test specifically for this distinction before confirming a lot meets a client's specification.
